Tteokbokki (Korean Spicy Rice Cakes)
Ingredients:
2 cups Korean rice cakes (tteok)
1 cup water
2 tablespoons Korean chili paste (gochujang) or red chili sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 spring onion (chopped)
1 boiled egg (optional)
Instructions:
Boil water:
Add water to a pan and bring to a boil.Add sauce:
Mix chili paste, sugar, soy sauce, and garlic into the boiling water.Cook rice cakes:
Add rice cakes and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring gently until the sauce thickens.Add spring onions:
Add chopped spring onions and cook for 1 more minute.Serve:
Put in a bowl and top with a boiled egg if you like. Serve hot.
